I don't remember the exact "circum" stances as to why he had it done, but it wasn't something he just decided to do. He was having recurring infections, or something like that.

I remember making emergency "pipes" with cardboard toilet paper or paper towel tubes and tin foil, and also by wrapping several layers of tin foil around a pencil and fluting one end into a bowl... those little tin foil pipes got HOT

When I was a kid I had a record player that only played the 'small hole' 78's. I tried to convert it to a 45 player by taping a toilet paper roll to the turntable. :idea:
