he tinkered with just about every item.... made even the simple things special... grilled the buns too !!

that is the way my mom does stuff... and I try quite often... sometimes ideas work, sometimes - not so much

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay, a fellow foodie! I used to be more experimental in the kitchen, but since I went back to school, I don't have the time to be as creative. I love browsing those gourmet stores, too. Half the time I'm picking things up and thinking "what the hell do you use this for". What spices have you tried that you like? I love crushed red pepper, and curry adds a pretty nice touch to a lot of things.

I love peppers of all kinds....fresh, pickled, crushed, ground

I use alot of ginger in smoothies and cereals, I read it was as good as garlic as far as antibacterial and such...


the latest spice I bought was lemongrass... very cool so far on fish, some meats and salads



in my cabinet, waiting for me to find a recipe or get an idea, (and someone willing to try whatever I come up with, hehe)
are a jar of grape leaves and a pack of seaweed sheets...

and a box of mini filo cups for hor'dourves or dessert ??

ooooooooooooh, that sounds good. I've had stuffed grape leaves, they were pretty good. I love the filo cups, they're so easy to work with and nice and flaky.

I grew and dried several types of peppers. Then I sliced them, dried then and chopped them all up. I have three containers I hold them in. They are labled Mild, Wild and 911.

When cutting up one of them to dry I didn't wear gloves and for over a week if I touched my finger to my mouth it would burn. And that's after washing my hands a zillion times. The next time I wore gloves and then threw the gloves away. Habanero are mighty hot and have staying power. I also have some hot sause that is so hot a couple drops in a bowl of chilli and it's almost too hot to eat. It's called Dave's Insanity Sauce.

LOL....about the residual pepper oils on hands....been there.... crying at the sink while dousing eyes with cold water


it's weird to me... I used to be able to eat onions raw ...a few years ago they just started to disagree with me

yet, I can eat any kind of pepper like a champ... raw, cooked and at any degree of potency

Raw peppers are great, but I can't eat those szhezuan (?) hot ones. They make me cry.

I like the green ones to but the red is probably my favorite. But I want the green ones on my pizza.

You would have loved this one - looked like a small cubanelle but it brought tears to my eyes.
