C/thru's Roadtrip - Spring 2009

left late thursday evening....

I took a few breaks but drove most all night...stopped near Kansas City around 8 am Friday and slept a few hours


spent the next 5 hours driving through thunderstorms and dodging tornado warnings...


OK..so..... Kansas.... whatever !!!
Why can't we go faster on I-70 ? Colorado lets you go 75...which means 80-85

and through a big part of it, they marked off their very own, private tollway ...
charged me cash to be able to continue on my journey

Let's just sell the whole state to the highest bidder



Missouri :

Thanks...Ima hang around here for about 10 days and head back home towards the Rockies ...

the air here is alot thicker, I feel a little tired... maybe just all the junkfood I ate while driving here ...LOL
or the fact that I stayed up too late again last night .... un-missing my host


Mr. Man is trying to fix my laptop ....I am too tired to go out tonight... we are gonna visit some of his relatives tomorrow

Day #1


went out for lunch at a place that claims Grandma works in the kitchen,
both had the pork chop special...they were out of coconut cream pie

so we went to another awesome restaurant called Dairy Queen !!!
ever been to one? small towns are so cute


I wanted my item to look just like the big, fancy picture so I asked where is my caramel?
the young man said it's there, it slid to the bottom
my gracious host told him to give me more caramel, the young man said that will be 49 cents extra

we compared it to the advertising picture but he assured us that there was
actually more caramel than even on the picture.

Day #2

slept in a bit
went to his relatives house and had home fried chicken and drank some local wine
which I loved and will buy some to bring home ....maybe extra bottles for Edelwiess & SilverSunPickup...
it was ultra sweet yet had a spicy little finish...and didn't hang me over....I need more.

look at 16 family photo albums and only got to the year 1981 ?.... so I brought the rest here to his house
and his Brother will pick them up later ... saw some cute baby photos




Day #3
is only 1/2 over....going to see Star Trek later

I woke up to a little commotion in his kitchen... it seems he was frantic over his morning coffee
and had 3 makers lined up trying to get at least one of them to deliver...



there are about 12 folger canisters stacked up there to the side


going to the park now.....

Gee ya have to have coffee. Hope you got some and I'm going to have one now and wait for the end of your day.....

We went to see Star Trek Monday Night... it was pretty good... there were only 2 other people in the whole theatre....weird....
I guess because it's such a very small town



I have been going with him to a city park where he tries to take a daily walk...

It was so lovely....so different from Colorado.... you know, the type of flora & fauna...

it smelled so woodsy.... sometimes there was a sweet smell of honeysuckles...every once in awhile
we would go near patches of some kind of wild onion grass and you could smell sweet onion in the air

I bought 3 bottles of that local wine for us... well, 2 by the time I leave cause I already opened one of them

I bought the ridge red.... it's ultra sweet but then spicy....I think you girls will love it too

YES !!

I came here to spend time with him....
and it's a nice break from having to do anything...no work, no school for 7 more days !!

How true. And plenty of truck stop porn shops, where ( I am told ) you can inquire about hookers and be directed to a nearby house where such can be had. I dont like anything about Missouri. The roads suck and its the worst part of the drive between here and WY.

We went to eat with friends....

prime rib, bacon wrapped pork steaks and coconut cheesecake !!

lots of wine and a little herb

we'll probably need to go do something active today
as soon as we can get off our butts....
it was worth it though... we all laughed and giggled alot.

yes...I went exactly by it on my way here....it was night and it had lights on it...pretty
I also drove through a section that had alot of Vegas type gambling casino/hotels with amazing
lights and huge TV like billboards...

I was actually amazed the billboards were legal that close to the rather tight and fast freeway,
they are very flashy and distracting for a driver that seriously needs to be paying attention to the road


and last Halloween, I flew here....he picked me up at Lambert (STL) and showed me some St. Louis stuff
before we headed out
