My take on obama tonight

Overall - great speech

Started out very strong, set the right tone. Great first 5 minutes.

Then he went into the bullshit. got a little heavy too. got a little full of himself and I'm sure he turned a lot of people right back off again.

But he got better again. Called out a lot of things that really need to happen. pointed out governments failings and what is going wrong. Now if they can only step up to the plate. Now if he can only lead them to this objective.

The speech cleary indicated he knows what is wrong with government. He knows what needs to change. But he also did in his campaign. We'll see. We'll see if he can enforce his big challenges. Getting rid of earmarks, all for it and it is necessary. but its also how politicians buy and sell their votes. He talked about a lof of culture change in Washington. Again all needed.

He can't do it alone and we shouldn't expect him to. But we've elected him to lead and that is something to date he hasn't done. He made a very good 2nd start tonight. at least in words. Let's see where we go from here.

I have an opinion about a close-up I saw of McCain quietly saying "Bush Bashing" to another seated nearby

it sure seemed a bit staged to me .... what are the odds of a zoom in on him at the exact right moment ?....and an extended one at that


I'm going to check around in the morning and see if anyone else caught that and blows the whistle on a conspiracy


and the Judicial stiffs were very funny, I believe one of them broke stature for a moment

It seemed to me that when Obama started blaming Bush for whatever it was, the camera man zoomed on McCain to catch his reaction and just happened to catch McCain lean over and make that remark. It looked to me like he said "blame Bush". The thing didnt look staged to me at all. For it to be staged the camera man and McCain would have to have known Obama's Bush remark was coming.

The camera also caught Justice Alito shake his head and say "not true" when Obama was chastising the supreme court.

The arrogance of Obama has no limits.

like I said, he nailed a lot of the issues dead on. but he did in his campaign too. the challenge now is making something happen with it. i think it was necessary to call congress out, and he did. what is going on is out of control and it needs to stop. he can't stop it alone, he needs the help of congress. but he has to be the leader and that will require a lot of pushing back.

I think the mccain remark was more inncoent and was a matter of timing to a comment obama made. allito I'm sure will disagree with obama on the courts decision. I guess one could argue, was that the right venue to call them out on it? just like was the you lie comment appropriate at that time. I happen to agree with obama on the court decision issue. I think they made a mistake.

obama laid on the shit pretty thick quite a few times. a lot of spin. i know he was trying to motivate the country and keep positivity going. he laid out the problems and challenges but now can we rise above them. calling out congress was a big step imo. but was this all more hype? the campaign trail revisited. if nothing else he called out the need to replace the dead wood in congress in the upcoming elections. they won't respond and they need to go.
