Bush Tells Texas Crowd, 'I Miss Being Pampered'

George W. Bush says now that he's left to walk his dog alone around his Dallas neighborhood,
he realizes how much he misses the perks of the White House.

"I miss being pampered. I miss Air Force One. I miss being commander in chief of an
awesome group of [people]," the former president told a whistling, fist-pumping crowd
of 2,000 supporters in Texas this past Tuesday

"Ten days out of the presidency, there I was with a plastic bag in my hand, picking up
that which I had been dodging for eight years," he said, describing how he suddenly had
to clean up after his dog Barney himself.
The crowd erupted into laughter, and at one point someone yelled, "Bring back Bush!"

Bush has mostly kept out of the limelight since leaving office, but he spoke Tuesday
as part of the University of Texas at Tyler's Distinguished Lecture Series.

He touted his new book, "Decision Points," due out next month.

"This will come as a shock to some people in our country who didn't think
I could read a book, much less write one," he quipped.

I think his main point was he just missed "being pampered," I don't think he ever really veiwed it as a real job

i think for most of them it's an objective. who can really function under all of that pressure
