| Two Georgia men have accused Bishop Eddie Long, the outspoken pastor of an Atlanta-area megachurch and anti-gay activist, of abusing his position by coercing them into sexual relationships when they were adolescent members of his congregation, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday. The men, now 20 and 21, claimed Long misused his spiritual authority by seducing them with lavish gifts such as cars, money, clothes, international trips, jewelry and access to celebrities when they were 17-and 18-year-old members of the pastor's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia. [ Claims of Church funds being used for this activity ] Long was appointed pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in 1987 when the church had about 150 members. In less than four years, the congregation grew to more than 8,000 members, many of whom reside in DeKalb County, home to many affluent African-Americans. Athletes and entertainers claim membership at the church, and among its prominent clergy is Rev. Bernice King, the youngest daughter of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. [ This Man has been celebrated and endorsed by many notables in our society ] LINK to CBS story _______________________________________________________________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"ever since I was a babygirl, wanted one thing most in this world, was to keep my love, keep my love alive" ~ Heart |

| This dude has been under suspicion and has been watched by GA law enforcement for years. His whole operation is corrupt and into all sorts of vice. This is no surprise. |

The money thing is something that really gets under my hide. I understand that if they are going to have organized religion they need a place to gather and some basic amenities..... but......I think most of them put FAR too much emphasis on collecting from the congregation. I also believe that tax exempt status for churches is a bunch of garbage. If I have to pay property taxes why doesnt everyone else? Theres a church not far from here that looks like a small college campus, with lavish buildings and a huge auditorium. They do television broadcasts from there weekly. It bespeaks of a lot of money. People mockingly call it Six Flags Over Jesus. I find it it obscene. |

| "Six Flags over Jesus " LOL
I would love a good reason why some big religious org leaders think they should have an important voice in Government politics when they don't even help support it financially
you may attend most churches for free, but if you want to have full access and a even a psuedo vote on Church policies you have to officially join and pay your financial contributions too _______________________________________________________________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"ever since I was a babygirl, wanted one thing most in this world, was to keep my love, keep my love alive" ~ Heart |

The big religious leaders preach politics from the pulpit. They have a desire to control all aspects of their congregation's lives. Hence I avoid them completely. |
